In 1989, Mike was studying theatre and enjoying college life. One afternoon, he received a call from his mom. She informed him that his sister had been raped earlier that day. Mike’s life would change forever.  Over the next two years, he researched and studied various aspects of healthy dating and sexual assault awareness. 

Mike found that parents and our educational system was not talking about this issue, except to touch on the issues of laws pertaining to sexual assault, the basics of self-defense, and the statistics about rape. No one was truly addressing the real issue of how students relate to this issue.   No one was showing students how you can change your own dating behavior by creating healthier dating practices. No one was showing people how each person can help reduce occurrences of sexual assault. From this need, Mike created and designed his own interactive program, "Can I Kiss You?", to open the eyes of people toward this important societal issue. 

Today, Mike is the Executive Director of The Date Safe Project (visit at www.thedatesafeproject.org) and works with schools and organizations throughout the United States of America and Canada.  Educators, parents, students, and professionals love how his ideas and concepts in May I Kiss You? inspire truly thought-provoking discussions.
